On October 21-25, 2019, the second youth exchange took part. The exchange was attended by project partners – students from Vilnius Pranciskaus Skorinos Gymnasium and students from the secondary school in Hajnówka.

The aim of the meeting was to learn about the history and traditions of the vicinity of Pužsk and Sejny and to further deepen cooperation between partner schools.

The participants of the meeting learned about the history and traditions of the Lithuanian national minority, listened to a school choir concert and participated in singing workshops. They also took part in an interesting history lesson in the old Prussian settlement. Learning folk dances together made it possible to learn about the heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and folk traditions.

During the exchange, students learned the art of taking photos and filming, which resulted in a photo gallery illustrating the stay in Pužsk and a film showing activities from the meeting. Participants of the exchange worked together and prepared material for a mini-glossary of similar-sounding words in Lithuanian, Belarusian, Polish and English languages. Everyone discussed how they maintain family traditions, culture, and the importance of using their mother tongue in their lives.

The farewell evening, on the last day of the exchange was full of joy. Participants were dancing, singing, trying local food and had the possibility to bake on their own and taste a local cake called s?kacz.

All project participants are looking forward to the next meeting in Hajnówka.
