Training meeting for teachers at Puńsk – November 2019
One of the ways of maintaining the national identity by sharing experience and exchanging good practices are workshops for teachers. In Liceum Ogólnokształcące z Litewskim Językiem Nauczaniaim. 11 Marca in Pužsk, from 21 to 23 November 2019, there was organised a training meeting focused on effective methods of teaching a national minority students. It was conducted by the headmaster and a teacher of the Secondary School in Pužsk, who is also a methodologist of teaching Lithuanian at the Teacher Education Center in Suwaki. During the training, the structure and functioning of the education of the Lithuanian and Belarusian minorities in Poland and the situation of the Belarusian minority in Lithuania were analyzed.
An integration evening with tasting Lithuanian dishes was also organized. In addition, the participants of the training visited the old Prussian settlement, the former monastery complex in Wigry and the Mi?osz Manor combining various cultures of the region.
Part of the training was devoted to improving methods of teaching a foreign language (English). Before the training, foreign language teachers developed drafts for English lessons. Drafts were exchanged between partner schools. The drafts contain content improving the vocabulary and skills related to the use of English in terms of culture and information concerning the national minority represented by the school.
